Copyright and Fair Use
Mozilla Firefox Update Free Download Windows 7 is a web browser. Mozilla Firefox is a simple browser that has been rated the fastest browser against all competitors including Google Chrome and Internet Explorer in multiple side by side comparisons.
WARNINGDownloading streaming videos is not illegal, as long as you use the video in a manner that conforms to the video's license or terms of use. For example, many YouTube videos use the standard YouTube license, and some are licensed under Creative Commons. You can check the license type by inspecting the information box underneath the video, as in the image below.
For more information about viewing and using YouTube videos in accordance with copyrights, make sure to check Google's Frequently Asked Questions about Copyright and Fair Use on YouTube.
Download videos using a Firefox add-on
To download videos (including YouTube) using Firefox, we recommend the add-on called YouTube Download Plus. To install the add-on, follow the install process below.
In Firefox, navigate to the YouTube Download Plus add-on page, and click Add to Firefox.
When prompted by the browser to confirm installation, click Add.
The next time you go to a YouTube video page, you'll notice a Download button below the video.
TipYou can also click the red download arrow at the top-right corner of the Firefox window to select and download the video as an MP4 file.
You'll be presented with a drop-down menu, where you can select the option to download the video as an MP4 file. After selecting the MP4 option, several pages open and close, which are part of the MP4 conversion process.
On the 'conversion finished' page, click the green Download button to save the MP4 file to your computer. After the download is complete, the file will be available in your downloads folder.
Downloading videos using Chrome extensions
NoteGoogle does not allow any extension in Google Chrome to download YouTube videos. However, the example below does allow you to download videos from most other video sites.
For Google Chrome, we recommend installing the Video Downloader Professional extension. To download this extension, follow the install process below.
Visit the Video Downloader Professional extension on the Chrome web store.
Click the Add to Chrome button once open.
Click Add extension.
After installing the extension, if a video is available to download, a green down arrow appears in the top-right corner of the window to download the video.

When you click a link to download a file, the Internet Media type, also called the MIME type or Content type, determines what action Firefox will take. You may already have an application or plugin installed that will automatically handle the download. Other times, you may see a dialog asking whether you want to save the file or open it with a specific application. When you tell Firefox to open or save the file and also check the option to 'Do this automatically for files like this from now on' (see below), a new Content Type and Action entry for that type of file will appear in the Applications panelApplications section of the General panel in Firefox OptionsPreferences.
You can change what action Firefox takes for defined content types. This will not affect media embedded in a web page - only links to the files themselves.
- Click the menu button and select ..
- Select the Applications panel. In the General panel, go to the Applications section.
- Select the entry for the file type you want to change. Multiple entries for the same file format or extension? Some file types can include more than one Internet Media type.
- The Action column will give you a drop-down menu, with options on action to take, whenever you click that type of file.
- Preview in Firefox: Select this if you want Firefox to display the content. It's only applicable to a limited number of types, those that Firefox is able to decode such as Podcast, Video Podcast, Web Feed and Portable Document Format (PDF).
- Always ask: This will prompt you to select what action you want Firefox to take when you click on that type of file. This can be useful if Firefox is automatically saving a file type or is always opening it with a certain program and you want to be asked what to do.
- Save File: This will always save the file to your computer using the Downloads window, whenever you click that type of file.
- Use ... : Open the file with an application or plugin of your choosing.
- Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.
When you click on a link for a type of file that doesn't have a set content type and download action, Firefox will ask you how to handle the file:
- Open with: Saves the file to a temporary folder and opens it in the default application for that file type. To select an application, click .
Warning: Do not choose Firefox to always open a certain file type, as doing so can cause a problem where Firefox repeatedly opens empty tabs or windows after you click on a link.
- Save file: Saves the file to the download folder (specified in the GeneralGeneral panel of Firefox OptionsPreferences).
- Do this automatically for files like this from now on: Check mark this setting and then click to add a new entry to the Content Type list for that file type.
Is Do this automatically for files like this from now on disabled? This can happen if the website's server incorrectly specifies the Internet Media type of the file. It also can happen if the server assigns 'Content-Disposition: attachment' to the file.
If you are having problems with how Firefox is handling file downloads that you can't resolve, or if you just want to start fresh, you can restore the default content types and actions by manually deleting the file that stores these settings.
This will remove all customized content type actions. You will have to make those changes over again after you take the following steps.
